Arizona Assets Alliance members participate in many different asset building strategies. Online tools and publications are available to help your agency engage or improve your work in one or more of the following areas:
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
VITA programs provide free tax preparation; outreach on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credits, and other tax credits; and IRS-certification for volunteer tax preparers.
Individual Development Accounts (IDA)/ Matched Savings Accounts
lDAs and match funds accounts are used to help working families build assets. Funds can be
for a variety of purposes including first-time home ownership, post-secondary business development and expansion, vehicle purchases, children’s savings accounts, and/ or other assets, depending on funding opportunities.
Programs helping clients manage their fiscal responsibilities are central to asset development. These programs include financial education classes such as budgeting, credit repair, and retirement planning; improving one’s credit score; and managing debt.
